Download the LidRun .dmg, open it, and drag LidRun into your Applications folder. Eject the disk image, then launch LidRun from Applications. The first time it runs, approve the single sleep-management permission so it can hold the Mac awake.

Opening LidRun for the first time on macOS

LidRun is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens with a normal double-click. The first time you open it, macOS asks you to confirm you want to open an app downloaded from the internet — click Open. That's the only prompt; you won't need the Privacy & Security workaround that unsigned apps require. After the first launch, LidRun keeps itself up to date automatically. Activate your license

Accepted Answer

Open LidRun, go to the License section, and paste the key from your purchase email. Activation links this Mac to your license. Each plan allows a set number of Macs, and plans differ only by how many Macs you can run on, never by features.

Question 4

Move LidRun to a new Mac

Accepted Answer

Sign in to your account portal, find the Mac you no longer use, and deactivate it. That frees a slot so you can activate LidRun on the new Mac. You can move your license between machines yourself without contacting support.

Download the DMG

Accepted Answer

Your purchase email and your account portal both link to the latest DMG. Always download LidRun from lidrun.com or the link in your email so you get the genuine build.

Battery safety

Set a battery threshold for automatic sleep. When the charge drops below the level you choose, LidRun stops holding the Mac awake and lets it sleep so the battery is protected. For long unattended runs, keep the Mac on power.

Thermal safety

LidRun reads the system thermal state continuously and shows it in the menu bar. If the Mac reports a serious or critical thermal state, LidRun can step back and allow sleep. Thermal watch reduces risk but is not a substitute for good airflow.

Closed-lid (clamshell) mode

Turn on keep-running, start your task, then close the lid. Closed-Lid Mode is a Pro feature — if you haven't approved the privileged helper, macOS will ask for an administrator password each time you turn it on (it runs `pmset disablesleep`). LidRun holds the Mac awake while your battery and thermal conditions stay within the limits you set. Make sure the Mac has airflow and is on a hard, flat surface before you close the lid.

Account portal

The account portal at lidrun.com/account lets you sign in by email, view your license and activations, deactivate a Mac, and find your latest download. No password to remember; sign-in is by a one-time email link.
